IS/IT/Comms strategy

We believe that business benefits only arise from deploying technology where business needs are clearly met and where business processes are aligned with the technology. An IS/IT/Comms strategy supports, and is supported by, the business strategy in achieving business objectives.

We develop and review strategy, policy and planning for deploying and managing IS (including Information Management (IM)), IT and communications networks.

Our strategy methodology

Our strategy methodology comprises a standard process supported by a toolkit of analytical and soft techniques. The choice of tools depends on the nature of an assignment.

Case study 1: We undertook an independent review of a Police IS/IT strategy, making recommendations regarding the need to improve the linkage between business needs and technology. Three years later, we conducted a second review which emphasised the increasing importance of information sharing and information assurance.

We are committed to encouraging client involvement and feedback at all stages; we don’t pretend that we understand an organisation better than our clients. We take into consideration the views of a broad range of stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, senior management and other employees, as well as looking closely at business processes, organisational culture, technology and other factors that help to define the business.

Our approach relies on rigorous reasoning and systemic thinking which allows us to develop and review strategies within complex strategic environments. We are experienced at working with difficult realities, trade-offs and elements that are difficult to compare.

Case study 2: We identified the communication needs of a Government department, recommended various technologies for consideration and suggested a procurement strategy of a single service provider.

We strongly believe that our commitment to client involvement throughout an assignment allows our strategic advice to be the best possible, being both pragmatic and acceptable to all stakeholders involved.
