Curtis+Cartwright: our team

Curtis+Cartwright were established in early 1999, on the foundation laid by our staff members' extensive experience of performing consultancy assignments in the UK public sector over some 25 years. The long term relationships we have built with our clients reflect our excellent reputation.

All our staff hold excellent first degree and postgraduate qualifications and have incisive analytical abilities coupled with first-rate soft skills. Our staff's depth of experience and range of perspectives permits us to tackle complex issues and provide pragmatic advice. Every member of staff is a superb team member, adept at working collaboratively in client and multi-contractor teams.

Dr Geoff Curtis

Geoff founded Curtis+Cartwright and has some 30 years of experience managing and conducting a broad range of consultancy assignments, especially in the public sector. These include IS/IT strategy development, ICT infrastructure strategy development, security consultancy, procurement support, organisation and management studies and system engineering studies. Geoff was previously a director of The Smith Group Ltd (now Detica) for some 15 years.

Matt Shreeve

Matt joined Curtis+Cartwright in 2004 after a background in computer science and technology policy. He has subsequently led and managed a series of successful consultancy projects across the public sector, including central government, the police and the education and research sector.

Matt has expertise in the development and deployment of technology for business impact. To do this, he has a deep understanding of the challenges in achieving organisational change and the skills to facilitate and drive change with stakeholders. He also has particular interests in practical tools to help manage uncertainty and complex systems.

Out of work Matt is a keen mountaineer and helps to run Guildford Mountaineering Club.

Dr Claire Davies

Claire joined Curtis+Cartwright in 2005 after completing a PhD in analytical organic geochemistry at the University of Bristol. She is a Consultant at Curtis+Cartwright and has managed and supported numerous assignments across the public sector.

Claire has excellent experience of managing intense and high profile studies, often involving complex (and sensitive) stakeholder engagement. She also has a particular interest in working with digital services and projects in the education, library and cultural sectors.

In her spare time Claire enjoys jewellery making and silversmithing.

Dr Max Hammond

Max joined Curtis+Cartwright in June 2006, after completing his PhD in organometallic chemistry at the University of Warwick.

Max has managed and conducted a wide range of projects, with a particular focus on understanding complex systems - both organisational and technical. Max enjoys working at the boundaries, where he has extensive experience of applying new technologies to solve pressing real-world problems.

Max enjoys walking, climbing and mountaineering, and volunteers for St John Ambulance as an ambulance crewmember.

Dr Rob Hawtin

Rob has worked at Curtis+Cartwright since 2009 after leaving academia, which included post-doctoral experience in computational chemistry.

Rob has used this experience to good effect in the projects he has supported and conducted in the HE sector and beyond. In his work at Curtis+Cartwright, Rob has developed a particular interest in evaluation and evidence-based policy, having conducted a number of external evaluations.

In his spare time Rob enjoys missing the fairway on local golf courses.
